The Pre-Workout Fuel You Need: Radiant Green Smoothie

The Radiant Green Smoothie is the perfect pre-workout fuel to help you build muscle & sculpt a lean, toned body.

It’s balanced with essential nutrients to maximize protein absorption, increase energy & encourage cell detoxification. 

Eating an insufficient amount of nutrients, especially protein, prior to working out can sabotage your health goals. It dramatically affects your body’s ability to build muscle, slows down metabolism, lowers immunity & can result in fatigue. 

Don’t go into your workout starving with low energy. Eat a blend of protein, healthy fats & carbohydrates 30-60 minutes before working out to reap the benefits. 

Nutritional Spotlight:

Protein is used to support just about every part of the body. It supports healthy muscle growth & recovery, improves mood, stabilizes blood sugar, balances hormones & promotes longevity. The amount of protein you need depends on your personal health goals, but aim for a minimum of 20g of plant protein in your smoothie.

When eating protein be sure to include a healthy fat. Fatty acids encourage nutrient absorption by nourishing the lining of the gut. Avocados are an excellent source of healthy fat to add to smoothies because of their creamy texture & high fibre content.

Incorporate kale into your diet to naturally reduce inflammation. Kale is rich in vitamin K, a key nutrient that helps regulate the body’s inflammatory process, which can offset inflammation brought on by physical activity. Kale also encourages cell detox, removing toxins from the body that come from our food & the environment.  

Spirulina is one of the world’s most nutrient-dense superfoods. It’s a blue-green algae that has an intense nutritional profile & extensive health benefits. Spirulina has been shown to detox heavy metals from the body, boost energy & speed weight loss. I love adding superfoods in my smoothie to give it that extra nutrient boost. Now I need to get my hands on some Moon Dust

  1. 1 handful of greens (I used a mix of kale, spinach & dandelion)
  2. 1 small banana (or 1/2 large)
  3. 1/2 small avocado
  4. 1 serving plant protein
  5. 1 Tbsp. hempseed
  6. 1 tsp. spirulina
  7. 1 cup water
  8. 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  1. Add all of the ingredients to a high speed blender & blend until completely smooth.
